Thames Boat Hire
Holiday on the Thames with us
Lechlade to London. 44 locks and 94 navigable miles of beauty and history. One of the most majestic rivers in Europe, the beautiful and historic 'Royal' River Thames runs for over 215 miles from its source in Gloucestershire through Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Greater London, Surrey and Essex before finally arriving in the estuary between Kent and Essex.
When travelling upstream it passes through rural villages and some well known towns and cities including London, Windsor, Maidenhead, Marlow, Henley, Reading, past Pangbourne, home of the royal naval college through the beautiful Goring gap and Streatley, Abingdon, Oxford, Eynsham and Lechlade.
From the Navigator Holidays thames boat hire base at the Swan Hotel at Radcot Bridge - "the oldest bridge on the Thames" - your relaxing holiday will take you downstream towards Oxford, passing through 8 locks along the way. Once at Oxford the river takes on a different beauty. Here you can cruise alongside both historic and modern architecture in this world famous city. If you choose to moor the boat you can visit some of the famous attractions such as The Ashmolean Museum and the University Colleges.
Your narrowboat rental cruise continues and takes you on through many locks, towns and villages towards Henley-on-Thames, a medieval market town just 30 miles upstream from London. A short walk from your overnight mooring is the centre of Henley, with its coffee shops and fantastic antiques, fashion and food shopping.
We think it's fair to say that a river thames boat hire offers beauty and many places of interest. If you dream of long summer days gliding through the remote Upper Thames then a holiday from our hire base will suit you. From Lechlade to Eynsham, the river is full of such unexpected delights as kingfishers and otters. Oxford, Reading, Windsor and London bring a touch of history and glamour to the proceedings.
